Looking for a fun and festive beverage to add to your holiday dinner menu? Give this pomegranate spritzer a try.

Pomegranate juice, fresh squeezed lime juice, simple syrup, rosemary, and club soda create this refreshing and simple mocktail. It's light, tart, and perfect for holiday sipping.

Serve pomegranate spritzers at your next Thanksgiving or Christmas party. It's easy to make one at a time or enough for a crowd!

Ingredients and substitutions

Ingredients on a counter top.
  • Pomegranate juice - The base of the recipe. Adds tart, fruity flavor to the cocktail.
  • Lime juice - I highly recommend using fresh squeezed lime juice for a fresh, bright flavor. Lime juice adds tart, citrus flavor to the cocktail.
  • Simple syrup - You'll need a bit of simple syrup to sweeten your mocktail and balance with the tartness of the pomegranate and lime juices. Simple syrup could be substituted with maple syrup or agave syrup if desired. I don't recommend omitting the simple syrup because the drink would turn out very tart.
  • Club soda - Adds a light, bubbly flavor to the drink. Club soda can be substituted with mineral water or sparkling water. For a sweeter drink, club soda could be substituted with lemon lime soda like Sprite.
  • Garnish - Lime and rosemary add a festive touch to the cocktail. I don't recommend omitting the rosemary sprig because it adds a significant amount of fragrance to the drink.

Tips and tricks

Making pomegranate spritzer.

Use a highball glass - Use any highball glass around 8 to 12 ounces in size for your pomegranate spritzer.

Don't omit the simple syrup - The two fruit juices are tart on their own and need the balance of the simple syrup. As written, this drink turns out lightly sweetened and a bit tart. Without the simple syrup, your drink will turn out very tart.

Stir gently - After adding your club soda, stir gently until just combined.

Storage

Pomegranate spritzers are best served immediately.

To prepare ingredients ahead of time, slice a lime into rounds, clean and dry your rosemary sprigs, and juice a lime or two (depending on how many mocktails you're making).

Frequently asked questions

Overhead view of pomegranate spritzer.
How many limes do I need for this recipe?

One lime contains about 1 ounce of juice, so you'll need a minimum of one lime per mocktail. If you'd like to add a lime garnish, you'll need an extra lime for slicing.

How do I make simple syrup?

Simple syrup is a 1:1 ratio of water and granulated sugar that's mixed over heat until the sugar is fully melted. To make simple syrup for this recipe, add granulated sugar and water to a saucepan over medium heat and stir until sugar is melted. Simple syrup can also be prepared in the microwave using short bursts of heat. Allow simple syrup to cool before adding to your mocktail.

What can I use instead of simple syrup?

Simple syrup can be substituted with honey, maple syrup, or agave.

My spritzer turned out very tart! How do I make it less tart?

Add as much simple syrup as needed to make your drink less tart. Club soda could also be substituted with a lemon lime soda, like Sprite, for a sweeter beverage.
